A great men’s belt with a silly name

I have to admit that I was skeptical of a belt with a silly name like “Drizzte.” But I was looking for a large (I’m a big guy) infinitely-adjustable (my weight fluctuates) and TSA-safe (I’ll do anything to avoid those guys) belt. I’ve tried various “no hole” belts with dissatisfying results, so my expectations were low when it arrived from Amazon.

I was totally wrong. I have worn it every day for the last 4 months it has never let me down.(Insert your own joke here.) It holds tight, it is easy to trim to the length you need, and it definitely does not set off any metal detectors.

If you read the reviews at Amazon you’ll see a few people complaining that the plastic buckle breaks. Those people must be gorillas who have learned to use Amazon (evidence abounds elsewhere, too). The buckle is tough and mine shows no sign of stress or weakening. It is rather unconventional in the way it opens and closes — but that’s what makes it work so well. Don’t worry about it, you’ll figure it out (unless you’re a ham-fisted gorilla.)

The only material criticism I have of the belt is, well, its material. It’s a tactical belt with no fashion sense so if you’re a tucker (shirts, that is) you might not like its nylon construction. You definitely won’t like its loop holder, which is a ridiculous piece of material that look likes crap. (Trim your belt to size and throw the loop away. Problem solved.) Finally, there’s the name “Drizzte” embossed into the plastic buckle (which looks like it says “Drizzle”.) It’s a horrible design decision, but is thankfully fairly subtle.

The belt comes in various sizes, so make sure you choose the right one before ordering. As I mentioned above, you can trim it quite easily, so get one larger than you think you need. Note, tho, that you do not order by waist size, and shorter lengths, for fit people, are offered. (For example, waist 36-39 = 47” belt.) The Amazon listing provides guidance about this.

The bottom line is that it’s a great belt if you’re the kinda guy who needs a belt like this. I’m actually considering getting another one because good products like this have a way of selling out and vanishing from the market, especially when the price is low.
