I haven't tried it, but if you're looking for a way to remotely execute scripts on your Mac, from an iOS device, check out Otto's Remote. One very nice looking feature is the ability set up geofences so that scripts can be fired off based on your location.
I'm a big fan of Kevin Kelly's Cool Tools project. Here are my contributions:
In addition to having written for the list, I was honored to have Smart Home Hacks featured by Kelly.
The latest version of Growl adds support for AppleScript Rules. Growl is already a very handy tool for home automation, particularly when combined with Prowl, and this new ability really opens up some nice avenues. One use I'll be putting into place right away is the ability to query my HA controller for my location status before an alert is displayed.
Is Revolv the one hub that will rule them all? An impressive list of integration (WeMo, Hue, Z-Wave, INSTEON) is on the list, and they say that's just for starters.
The Mac home automation controller Indigo now supports Z-Wave devices. And not just lamp modules, but some of the other esoteric ones, like motion sensors, too. A very nice and welcome update!
My contribution to the fantastic Cool Tools - Shave Well Fog Free Shaving Mirror. You'll love it.
