Although I've been devoted to the technology industry for over 15 years, I usually still identify myself as a social scientist. That's because my academic background in in sociology, with an emphasis in crime, deviance, and ethnographic methods. Sociology is all about understanding the mechanisms of society and once you've looked behind the curtain, so to speak, it's impossible to leave that perspective behind. Someday I'll go back to school to get my PhD and finish my examination of the development of onscreen help and The Missing Manual series vis a vie the Hegelian Dialectic.
