My wife and I share a calendar and a shopping list (thanks to iCloud) but sharing anything else pretty much means we send email. (We've tried Dropbox, but it's not always the most convenient method when several computers and mobile devices are involved.)
I was really pleased to discover 8 Great Ways Couples Can Use Evernote Shared Notebooks and its suggestions for using Evernote. While we aren't both using Evernote (yet), I've had enough experience with it to recognize that the strategies it suggests are quite viable.
